I have setup miniBB to use an existing database. I added the required fields in the present user table such as "activity" "user_viewemail" ect...

I changed setup_options as such:

$Tf='minibbtable_forums';
$Tp='minibbtable_posts';
$Tt='minibbtable_topics';
$Tu='tng_users';
$Ts='minibbtable_send_mails';
$Tb='minibbtable_banned';

the admin account can login and I can view all the other members in the admin area so I know they are there.

The problem is regular users cannot login and get thos message:

Username/password combination is incorrect
Click here to return and correct them
Return to the forums list

My site is htt;://www.vandermerwede.net/genealogy/forums

There is a test account user: test password: test

Any ideas?

kind regards
George

It sounds like your existing user database encrypts/stores the password differently.

Find out from the other software that uses this database how to encrypt the password.

You will probably have to modify minibb's logging in function.

But why would the admin login correctly?

But why would the admin login correctly?

Because the admin pass is read from setup_options.php, not from the database.

All other accounts read the passwords from the database. It's in md5-hash. There is some info in the Manual about this and lots of info if you search this forum.

Most probably it's time zone or cookie problem. The same way we can not determine something on such poor problem description, there could be tens of reasons.

Which form are you logging in from? Is the script just redirecting you on the first page, or you get some error?

ok. I found out: webserver has PHP 5.1.2 & MySQL 5.0.18.
Locally: PHP 4.3.0 & MySQL 3.23.49.
Maybe this is a reason?

> Which form are you logging in from?
I logging in from all forms.
bb_admin - doesn't pass through.

> Is the script just redirecting you on the first page, or you get some error?
No redirecting. No error. After registration, says "Pls, go to the fist page to log in." And I can't :(

This of course could be the reason. We have not yet officially confirmed that miniBB works with raw versions of PHP and mySQL.

thx for answer, team!

I ready to learn php5/mysql5 ;)

in fact I can post messages putting in any name into login form (i.e cookie works) and posts Are exist in sql-tables after that. after registering user datas there are into sql-table. but e-mail to him come empty without written login / pass.
besides, admin /registered users can't login and edit its messages.
I suppose there are some difference into php5 / php4 md5 mechanism or mysql5 / mysql4 difference in simple select function. I don't know, as I didn't study yet php3 :)
