When you click on one of the topics in the latest discussions, is there anyway that the page opened with the last post showing (which is usually at the bottom of the page)?

There is no simple way. And in general, purpose of Latest Discussions is not redirect to the latest post. For this purpose, we have Checker tool.

Workaround, well almost:

I find that when you click on the latest topics... you go to:

url/index.php?action=vthread&forum=1&topic=topicID

but if you add #newreply, you can go to the bottom of the page???

like:

url/index.php?action=vthread&forum=1&topic=topicID#newreply

If this is workable, where can I implement that?

Well, if you meant this, you just need to edit templates/main_last_discuss_cell.html and where you find:

<a href="{$linkToTopic}">

change it to:

<a href="{$linkToTopic}#newreply">

Something like that...
