You should run only the queries included in Changes comparision: 2.0 RC2b - 2.0 RC3 section, if you upgrading from RC2b. !UPDATE_DB.sql file is for people upgrading from the latest 1.7 version.

Also as many fixes, improvements - you may find list of them in !UPDATE.txt also as read upgrade manual at the end of this file. As usual, download in our files section. P.S. ... don't want to have big problems with big users :-) Sometimes, when a project becomes popular, server loading is too high. Any script will execute slow - but not everybody understand that he must upgrade the hardware, not software :-) Of course, using native procedures and database requests should give good results even on large amount of data... but we are just planning to make miniBB...

zorglub It is not necessary to add something in general scripts; we are trying to make this thing, so it is not needed to edit them again when upgrading... if it would be so complicated like you suggested, why do we need $dbUserSheme at all??

... code in miniBB, we mean options, templates, CSS, "special" settings, identification routine - but NOT the main PHP code as itself. If someone touches this code, he is loosing possibility to upgrade automatically, just overwriting main stuff. As about hard documentation - when changing something, we just MENTION KEYWORD by which you could find this change, not the algorithms......
