Hello,

I work with a Macintosh.
When I have to modify a script or a template, I use BBEdit, which is supposed to be good.
But, after having save the document, I have several problems of display whith a PC or a Mac.

What is the good format ?

The choices are ?
1) File creator
BBEdit
generic text file
etc...
2) Save State
None
MPW Shell
BBEdit
3) Line breaks
Macintosh
Unix
Dos
Unicode
4) Encoding
Mac roman
Unicode (UTF-8)
Unicode (UTF-8, no BOM)
etc...

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

I can use :
OS9 Mac
OSX Mac
XP on PC

For the web, I usually work with OS9 Mac.

When you open a miniBB script with BBEdit (7./0, very old), you have to choose the right format when you save.

Depending the format, the results are :
your page is a suite of "????"
you loose the french accents : é à ç, etc...
it is Ok, but an html bug checker will tell you that <head> is missing (and of course <head> exists).

At my first install of miniBB, I used Dremweaver as code editer, and it generates fatal errors in PHP scripts that I didn't touch !!!

I think it is just a problem of format when you save.

If you know yhe good format, and the good soft on Mac, thank you by advance.

Regards

All our files are saved in Windows format, newlines are CR (carriage return) + LF (linefeed). Mac uses CR only, Linux uses LF only. It's up to your editor how it handles newlines, but obviously using very old software could cause a lot of problems.

Yes, because the new version can be tuned and you can switch between different carriage return formats in it :) I haven't used 7.0 version myself. Started using it since the version 8.X and above :)

Hello,

I loaded the latest version of BBEdit, but the bug stays alive.

In fact, there is a little error in the french lang file.

In fre.php

$l_meta='<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=iso-8859-1">';

must be replaced by :

$l_meta='<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=iso-8859-1" />';

End tag of meta is missing, this is the bug.

Thank you again for your help.
