protecting forum with general password

How can I do when I click my forum of the browser will appear login window?
I mean my forum just for someone to use.
I offer username and password for my user,I do not want to user to register.

Change in setup_options.php:

$protectWholeForum=1;
$protectWholeForumPwd='your_password';

I have other question.
Could you explain
the $protectWholeForum=0,1,2..till ?
What mean 0,1,2....

1 means - it is protected, 0 - it is not.
