41. Posted: 19 Sep 2019 13:03 - News / miniBB 3.4.1 released: still making it even better (+ some add-ons update)
miniBB 3.4.1 released today and is free to download and/or upgrade. This release includes some improvements and bug-fixes, which are not related to security issues, but still, make this software even better. As usually, all changes mentioned in the...

Steve Shaw: I did the update to the new forum, using the same database - all is fine!Depending on your older version, the new version still may need some upgrades of DB, follow the Updates History for that.

... meaning of storage, versions of Premoderation add-on do not cross. As about the generic forum, you can use the same DB for tests, but I suppose, the newer version of your forum still needs the most recent upgrade for DB. However it all depends on your current version of the forum. I did upgrade of the default DB rarely, so it is quite possible that the older forum still could...

44. Posted: 17 Dec 2018 20:48 - News / miniBB 3.4 Stable released
... the release of miniBB 3.4 RC1, the stable miniBB version 3.4 released today, containing just a couple of minor fixes, related to the Mobile Template update. Like usually, all Updates are listed in the Upgrading History file from the bottom. Overall, while going through all official add-ons, I didn't find the other critical changes in the core, except those made in the add-ons themselves...

... only a majestic core release, which we strongly encourage as a new installation for every starter. Existing forum owners may wait for all add-ons update, which should be completed within 2 weeks, and upgrade to the final version, when it will be removed from a Release Candidate status. Note that this release is stable disregarding its RC status. Whatever change may be applied, will be related...

tom322: the best way is to upgrade to MariaDB which supports MyISAM in new versions tooIndeed it could be the best decision at this period of time... Seems MariaDB is supported by most of hosters nowadays and at this...

The size change was surprising - what it would need the extra 30% for, it is holding text one way or the other. I see possibly the best way is to upgrade to MariaDB which supports MyISAM in new versions too.

48. Posted: 26 Nov 2018 14:42 - The Other / Converting Database tables from MyISAM to InnoDB
... much reading of DB. Instead, myISAM is good at reading, and forums are exactly about this. Your visitors read the forums much more than write messages. The article seems to provide valid points for the upgrade. The most notable is a remark about FULLTEXT index missing in InnoDB. Some miniBB mods could be affected by this. Also, if I remember properly, some tables in miniBB or its add-ons...

... https://mariadb.com/kb/en/library/converting-tables-from-myisam-to-innodb/ which makes valid points about Database INDEX issues / recommendations. So just changing the tables is not enough to do a proper upgrade. My question is - would miniBB be affected by these Indexes? How to optimize them on InnoDB table to fully take advantage of InnoDB?

HerbertHef: That's pretty neat. So this script only works for Youtube content and no other similar services like Dailymotion?Only works with YouTube. I upgraded it last night to show the Channels. Handy when you want to see similar content. I intend to add my own recommendations - or popular playlists etc - and show / hide them with a link...

... how it all works). Everything in miniBB could be done on the add-ons level, and if you modify the core file and some function of it, this means you'll need to re-edit this file each time when you upgrade; this means you lose a chance of easy upgrades in the future.

... requirements on your own, either your hire someone or us, either you choose another product which would eat your time at its best. But there is one point in all this. If you choose miniBB, you have to upgrade it once in a few years or even not at all :) it has a minimum, but this is quite well secured in years. If you install a huge interfaces beast developed by 100+ coders from all over...

Rider: I think I should upgrade to your latest PM service addon. You could get the latest version from your Customers area, and I suppose, this is the right time to get it for your older miniBB version, since the newer...

... an index.html file in the same directory (which I never noticed before), which was addressed first, before index.php, that way causing my problem. Why it díd work properly before I did the PHP server upgrade is probably because the order of the index files was set to php above html before the upgrade, but of course I can't confirm that anymore. Anyways, this problem...

... it's about DirectoryIndex option, which could be changed either in httpd.conf either in the local .htaccess file for your website. It's quite possible that .htaccess was being reset after PHP upgrade. You will need to add index.php to that option if it's not present.

PHP upgrade definitely is not related to the problem you have. At first, make sure that when you type m.ourdomain.nl it opens the forum (full or mobile version). Then follow all guides to re-install...

Yesterday I upgraded the webserver of the www-domain from PHP 5.3.29 to 5.4.45. As far as I remember that's the only thing I changed. The m-domain has been on 5.1.x all the time. Tonight I upgraded...
