Limit some forums to certain users

Has anyone developed a hack to limit a certain set of forums to a certain group of users?

I am using miniBB on the website for one of my application and I'd like to have a special class of miniBB users that have access to forums which are only for those people who have purchased a license for my program.

Wondering if anyone has already done this so I don't have to reinvent the wheel.
