AVATAR problem

My minibb board is http://www.samgler.com/minibb/index.php
It has been up and running for almost 1 year. However, 3 days ago, when I logged in and clicked anything, I got

Avatar plugin is installed in file uploads mode, but the directory /home/httpd/vhosts/samgler.com/httpdocs/minibb/shared_files/avatars is not writable or doesn't exist. Can not continue execution, check your settings and file permissions.

Which is very strange because everything is the same. The folder permission (shared_files and avatar) has been set to 777 for a long time. How to fix this problem. Please help!!!

		I think if the script is saying so, it is so. How can be you sure the permissions are set? Which program do you use for determining it?
