Hi Paul, I have a strange issue in that one particular post, which displays correctly in the forum, shows incorrect post info when I attempt to edit it.

The post is: http://www.7-dna.com/forums/index.php?action=vthread&forum=1&topic=1058&page=11#msg9184

But when I select 'edit' all the code I see is:

Ok - just been verifying all bookings (I hope all are now verified..)...
:egyptian:   :packing: :flag_france: :beer-hiccup:

Just so you know, the schedule is:

19th July, drive to Portsmouth, for the overnight ferry to Le Havre, with the night spent:
[url=https://www.meretmarine.com/sites/default/files/styles/mem_1000/public/new_objets_drupal/20150203220751_b1.jpg] [xximgs=https://www.meretmarine.com/sites/default/files/styles/mem_1000/public/new_objets_drupal/20150203220751_b1.jpg]F erry[/imgs]
And TeaBag has now planned the actual routes fro each driving day!
(And very good they look too!)
After checking, they will be posted here for all to access.

:excited_bounce: :im_in:
There seems to be something in the original post that is causing the issue...
(I added the xx before imgs so you see the code...)

Any ideas?

Ah!
Could it be because I've used colons in the post???
Could they be causing minibb to think there are smilies in the post, when they are not actually there??

Nope, it's not the colons - I edited them in phpMyAdmin to dashes, no change in the 'edit' function being wrong...

I suppose there is just something wrong in bb_codes.php. decode function stops at some bb code which is not predicted. Obviously, it considers the closing tag as the final and removes all content between the first and the last tag. Could not say what exactly, but as I remember, you have bb codes modified and this is not a default function.

However I see the post has been edited by its author. So it worked for him? May be it doesn't work for admin/moderator only and some specific code allowed for admins only causes it? not sure.

The bit that is missing is in the 'middle' of the post, with the start and finish being correct... very strange.
And it doesn't matter if I am logged in as Admin, or Author, the result is the same.
(It says it has been edited, as it was edited previously - but now I have this issue trying to edit again...)

Editing works on any other post - just this one that is wrong.

Would it help to see the actual code copied from phpMyAdmin?

Whatever would be the proper update, is that you need to update some BB code to make it working correctly.

BTW you may check on another post with a few IMG BB codes in it. For example, 2 or 3 images. Most likely they will be cut on editing too.

Look at the source of the message - it has double (incorrect) <a href like:

.. <a href="https://www.meretmarine.com/sites/default/files/styles/mem_1000/public/new_objets_drupal/20150203220751_b1.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> <a href="https://www.meretmarine.com/sites/default/files/styles/mem_1000/public/new_objets_drupal/20150203220751_b1.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> <img src="https://www.meretmarine.com/sites/default/files/styles/mem_1000/public/new_objets_drupal/20150203220751_b1.jpg" alt="Ferry" title="Ferry" style="width:280px" /></a></a>..
Maybe the message was not entered correctly when posted.

I have found what causes the issue, but still do not understand it.

I am posting the pictures using the 'BB Code for Picture Insertion', as the pictures are hosted elsewhere on the web....
This initially works perfectly.
(Not sure if using 'BB Code for Picture Insertion' is relevant, but that is what I am using.)

After making the post I can select 'Edit' and see the full post correctly.

However, if I open the post for editing, and then 're-save' it (no need to actually make any edits), the next time I open the post to edit it for a second time the post text shown is wrong, as above...

Basically the issue is being caused with the 'Save' after an initial edit, and no further edits are possible...

Doe that help?

I'd check the bb_codes.php file and the 'deCodeBB' function related to the images [IMGs] tag - the issue must be there.

The reason could be too long URL. Pay very deep attention to the text you edit. It could happen that too long URL is split by a space or something like this. Other than this, there could be some tiny difference between the original and the edited text, and this could cause the issue.

This is a test of piccys... for editing

So this is piccy one
Piccy 1
With text below the image

Piccy 2
Piccy 2
And below this one

So does editing work - can this post be edited by someone?
Is the issue generic, or just within our specific forum?

Mmmm - seems to be an issue just with our forum?
How can this be fixed?

I have edited your post above as well (changed 1 letter) and it worked.
So it could be the issue with your codes only.
As usually, I could help you to fix it in terms of our paid support.

Do you think this could have been caused with the changes we have already paid for?

I have no ideas. Any code could cause anything, because you could not test all cases immediately (the same I couldn't as well). Also, I'm not sure if this is not about your own changes. I see we have a contact in 2015 for the last time, so I don't even remember what the "paid" changes were about :)
