Cell Width?

Hopefully the last dumb question from me for a while...

I'm using the 'Silver' skin, and it's generally working - but I have a strange layout issue I just can solve... and I've been trying for days!

The Topics layout has a variable width cell at the beginning of the line with the poster's name, etc.
I just cannot work out why this is - it is correct on this (minibb) forum.

Variable Cell Width

I have verified the various php files and html templates, and just can't see the error.

A hint where to look will be really appreciated!

Ok - with yet more testing I have proven the error is with the bb_silver.css sheet...

Now just got to work out where exactly!

You may try to play with the "width=100%" option for this table. Some cell should expand to the widest maximum and it will compress other cells.

Anyway, the best way for this is to set the fixed or percentage sizes for the whole table in main_topics.html.

I think it's not CSS issue... old-school tabled layouts may give out something like this, if tables are not defined precisely.

Not making any headway with this...
I think it's related to the fact I have made the whole forum variable width, not fixed width as is normal.
This seems to have caused the variable width cells, but just with the Topics layout.

Does that help with any further thoughts on what I mat need to change?

I didn't check your CSS classes, but in general would try to make table like this:

<table class="tbTransparent" style="width:100%" >
<tr>
<td class="tcell tcelllast"><img src="http://www.7-dna.com/forums/img/p.gif" style="width:16px;height:16px" alt="" title="" /></td>
<td class="txtL noWrap tcelllast" style="width:100%"><img src="http://www.7-dna.com/forums/img/t.gif" style="width:12px;height:9px;padding-top:6px" alt="Author" title="Author" />Mad Hatter  <span class="txtSm">9 Jul 2013 10:52</span></td>
<td class="txtR tcell tcelllast noWrap">Mad Hatter  <span class="txtSm">Yesterday, 23:59  </span><a href="http://www.7-dna.com/forums/index.php?action=vthread&forum=1&topic=36&page=1#msg331"><img src="http://www.7-dna.com/forums/img/s.gif" style="width:12px;height:9px;padding-top:6px" alt="Latest reply" title="Latest reply" /></a></td>
</tr>
</table>

Worked perfectly!

Just added style="width:100%" to the middle cell, and 'noWrap' to the end cell.
