Dear profi!
advise me please.
how to make a referral program of forum users? Is here an opportunity to setup it?
If 'no', what is a correct way to make it by myself?

Sorry! In miniBB, we don't have any referring programs. It's not our niche of business.

In general, there are hundreds of referral programs available on the market. You may check hotscripts.com or similar directories listing them.

They do not depend on forum users, in general.
What kind of referring should forum users perform and what kind of bonuses they would get for it?
Forum is a free communication platform. It must be monetized heavily to attract referrals. On a free forum, I don't see even a purpose for it...

If you have some points/views of what would you like to achieve and how do you see it, you're welcome to spread your thoughts here.

My purpose is to grow forum users amount. And I think to give a little benefits to users who invite people to forum. And to track 'who is who' it maybe need a some 'parent ID' to newbie. So, it's a simple referring program. And this referrers tracking is have to be in registering process. Am I right?

So, it rather depends on your "benefits" and how you give them out. There should be a strict plan to see what needs to be done and how.

I think whatever you would need, is kind of link to registration process, which then will save a "referral" cookie with the inviter's ID and that way it will be stored in database. But then, you will need a special statistics script, which would show, who was inviting whom, possibly other analyzing script.

All in all, it's a thing requiring lots of time to implement, discuss and test, and we have no such add-on by now.
It could programmed only on the premium support basis, as it appears very customized and specific to your ideas only (as any referral program should be kind of specific - else what kind of sense would it make..).

I'll try to make it by myself as some add-on. Later I'll invite you to see on this experiment :) OK?

Sorry, I am in respond for miniBB only and do not perform customized testings.
You may look elsewhere, I'm sure there will be lots of users trying to help ;)

I would perhaps do this referral system by placing a new text field to the registration form, in which new user can type the username or email address of the user who's meant to be credited. Or if there's only relatively small amount of registered users, I'd create a dropdown list of user names and then the new user could choose from there which one to be credited for registration. In either case the data could be then saved to database so it could be used in all sorts of ways later.

I'd rather focus on quality of posts than on the number of new sign-ups. You can remove all anti-spam scripts and the Chinese will do a great 'referral job' for free ;).

Before asking - how to invite people - give yourself a following question: whom your forum would be interesting for?
What is the targeting audience?

I believe, starting a forum with a good & unique content, making it alive, putting it on Google, mentioning in various directories, catalogs, other forums and websites will automatically bring people to it.

The most important is the starting content.

If you just installed the software, and would like to "artificially" invite people (Referrals program is just for that) - I think it can't always work. People will join the forum - what's next? Who's the specialist to give information to them? They join and leave, that's all.

It's not a one-day work...

BTW it seems you didn't understood the Tom's sense of humor... ;)
Chinese are possible to write ANYWHERE.
If you have an opened message form which could be filled it, they will find it to spam.
In a month or so you will see, if you keep it up... miniBB is sometimes indexed *too fast*, 'cause it's very lite.

Dear Paul, thanks for 'instruction'!

It seems to be very long way but I'll go this way too.

Sorry - then it appears me didn't get your sense of humor, probably because of English misconfiguration ;)

Well, it could be quite a quick way... but you need to be an expert in your area, or have experts team behind, and have a unique subject of questions and discussions. I know examples of forums bumping in a half-year or even less.

BTW seeing your forum... it's too much ads-filled with actually no useful content... I think, providing a winning content at first is a must. Users dislike so many ads on an empty space. It's too obviously "monetized". Rather nobody will take care to earn money for you instead of nothing. Just IMHO.
