From miniBB team with love: we are ready to announce the first miniBB release in the new year, right away after your Valentines drinking. Fresh up your head with the following new features, which have been gradually added and tested within the past few months:

- Today/Yesterday in topic listings - would be useful for your visitors getting straightforward what and when is happening on forums.

- Deep improvement of hyperlink-based BB codes for external and internal websites, incl. the codes for [img], [imgs], [url] tags. Now all links pointing to external websites will be approved only for eligible members, at the same time all links pointing to the base URL, should automatically be approved, having "follow" relation. More strict rules are introduced on pasting the image codes.

- Recent Topics icons on the first page are back.

- Few average security fixes and minor improvements, all are listed under Updates history file.

We welcome everybody to upgrade to the new version - first of all, you must care about your security, then on new features... We also hope this release finally brings the word "stable" on top, making miniBB even more acceptable for a friendly software, in all aspects.

Enjoy! :-)

Hi Paul,

I have noticed the following remark in the updates history file:

"bb_func_search.php - search form's values improvement"

Could you be please more specific on "values improvement"?

Some values were a bit improperly defined in the previous version, and now they are declared more strong way. It's not related to the security or something else, just made them a bit better.

On download page the release date is written as "16-Feb-2008". New visitor may think that the project is dead %)

Paul:
More strict rules are introduced on pasting the image codes.
As I understand Description field must be filled obligatory. But why? Sometimes it's very uncomfortable. Is there any way to turn it off?

I suppose you just need to create your own version of BB code, modifying bb_codes.php. It's all open source, thus this file is not core-dependent, so you have your way to go!

Thanks Paul! Now everything is ok. As for me non-mandatory alt saves much time.

It saves time, but in terms of SEO you would lose ;-) Each picture should have a description, that's a valid point.
