First post in 2008, Happy New Year :)

I think a lot of people would thank you very much for an implementation like this...

I personally would not allow that either.. Too many possible dead graphics would be the main reason. Traffic/webspace - it's too cheap to consider nowadays..

No problem, I have solved it for myself. Now every user can use his own avatar via link because many of them use one avatar in different boards and so they are able to change just one image and it will effect everywhere there are using it.

I think what you are talking about ("linked avatars") could be implemented via adding new profile field solution so there is no need to implement this in the add-on itself.

I was trying to modify it by myself, but while table with user information looks with avatars perfectly, table with text minimizes to a half-normal table
So please tell me how to modify this file correctly.

Without seeing what you have done so far we have no clues. Try to look at this template on our test site and maybe this will give you some ideas.

Is there anyway to get the avatar add-on configured so the following could happen:

I set picture X as my avatar and make post A. Later, I change my avatar to picture Y and make post B. Post A still shows picture X as my avatar, while post B shows picture Y as my avatar.

It's nice to be able to keep the avatars users have had in the past, especially if they make a post that refers to their own avatar.

It's impossible with miniBB's avatars add-on.

I want every new registered user to have some default avatar assigned automatically. Later they would be able/allowed to replace it with their own avatar.

How could this be done?

Well, that's actually very simple :-) Look in Avatars code for bb_plugins.php, there is a statement under function:

else $im='';
You need to put your <img scr="..." /> tag pointing to the default image.

Yes, thank you. In the meantime I found it as well but was not sure if it is safe. Thanks again.

I am getting the following issue when adding avatars:

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening './addon_avatar.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php')

could you please tell what is the issue and how I can fix it? Thank you!!

The issue is obvious: the main script can't find the file addon_avatar.php which should be present in your forums folder.

Hi Paul
refer to your answer on post 101, can I also make this default avatar to show for non registered user along with ranks that show "not member", I already play with the user_id but still not worked.
Thank you.
