Using GZIP to decrease traffic?

I just saw in another forum (it's a phpbb) that it's using gzip to compress the data. This decreases traffic a lot:

gzip - compressed: 8.22 kBytes | uncompressed: 31.34 kBytes

It's from that page http://forum.electronicwerkstatt.de/phpBB

So my question: Is it possible to use gzip in minibb ?

We think miniBB is alteady optimized enough for saving your traffic in unzipped way. Probably, it is possible, but nobody will write an awful and many-systems-uncompatible code just for getting 5% savings.

P.S. Comparing miniBB & phpBB? that's a lot of fun :)))

Page generation time: 6.3872s ??

I still see in File -> Properties -> 30 Kb size. miniBB's forums first page is 32 Kb in size - not compressed.

I think, if we use Gzip, miniBB will be 4 Kb in size, not phpBB ;-)

That's ok about time... topic is related to Gzip, so the size still remains...

I don't think miniBB is larger in traffic than phpBB :-) We ourselves are using 50 Gb traffic account, and with thousands of page views per day still using only 10% of it.
