Adding menu on the left side of the page

I have wishes if it is possible with the forum like here this links:

I want to add a menu in the left side. Please how should this work?
Also i would like to add a printer view link of the threads.

Design your table and put the first part in main_header.html, and second closing part in main_footer.html
